For the last eight years, Voices for Education has been engaged in developing parent leaders and promoting parent leadership opportunities in Arizona’s schools.
Our Parent Leadership Institute is an eight-week professional development program for parents. It has been designed to give parents the knowledge and tools needed to help improve our schools.  We help parents learn how to make a difference, so can they reform education in Arizona.

Institute sessions may include the following components:

  • Money Matters—examining how state and local funding affects our schools and understanding how money comes to our classrooms.
  • Who's in Charge?—exploring the decision-making structure in public education so that parents can understand where decisions are made as they advocate for change.
  • Shared Decision Making—teaching parents their rights and roles on school site councils and helping them to develop effective leadership skills.
  • Education Reform in Arizona--What works, what the research says and how we can  make sure that every Arizona child gets a great education.
  • Read Right—helping parents analyze their school’s reading program in order to become a school leader in literacy.
  • Policy Makers Forum—engaging parents in conversations with school and state officials about local and statewide educational issues.

Our Parent Leadership institutes are sponsored by our public and private partners. They are provided at no cost to parents.

Everyone is welcome to join our on-going Parent Leadership Institute Parent Forum.  The Parent Forum is a professional development course forparents that aims to give them the knowledge and skills needed to become advocates for public education and their children. This group meets the first and third Wednesday of each month from 5:30 to 7:30 at the Voices for Education office - 48 N. Tucson Blvd. Suite 104.  Please call us at (520) 324-0881 to join us!
